Awards and accreditations

At Entura, we are very proud of the many awards and accreditations received over the years. These include:

2021 Spatial Industries Business Association and Geospatial Information & Technology Association Award for Spatial Enablement, Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards

Entura’s Spatial and Data Services Team received top accolades at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards, taking home the Spatial Industries Business Association and Geospatial Information Technology Association Award for Spatial Enablement. The team were recognised for their work on Hydro Tasmania’s Battery of the Nation initiative, where they used spatial tools and technologies to support the initiative through pre-feasibility, feasibility and project design stages.

2021 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards, Tasmanian Division 

One of Entura’s leading specialist dams engineers, Paul Southcott, won Professional Engineer of the Year in the Tasmanian Division of the 2021 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards. Paul was commended for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the profession over his long career, including project work, industry development, teaching and mentoring. Andrew (Drew) Shaw, Entura’s Senior Technical Officer Civil, and civil engineer Edward Snowball were also named as finalists, in the Engineering Technologist and Young Professional Engineer of the Year categories, respectively. 

2020 Outstanding Student Project, National Awards for Planning Excellence

Entura’s Bunfu Yu, an environmental planner, received top accolades at the 2020 National Awards for Planning Excellence, winning the Oustanding Student Project category. Bunfu’s submission ‘The Role of Spatial Planning in Energy Provision’ looked at how the speed of change in energy systems is outpacing the adaptability of planning systems. Bunfu also previously won the Mike Shield Award for academic excellence and best performing graduating student in Master of Planning, University of Tasmania & Planning Institute of Australia (TAS division). 

2020 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards, Tasmanian Division

Seth Langford, a leading specialist renewable energy engineer at Entura, was named Professional Engineer of the Year in the Tasmanian Divison of the 2020 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards. Seth was commended for his contributions to renewable energy developments over his career, including project managing the construction of the Flinders Island Hybrid Energy Hub

2018 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards, Tasmanian Division 

Entura’s Principal Consultant for Electrical Primary Systems was named Engineer of the Year in the Tasmanian Division of the 2018 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards. The award recognised Donald for his outstanding achievement in the practice of engineering and the profession, promoting industry excellence across engineering projects and professionals, and highlighting the significant contribution engineering makes to communities.

2017 Industry Collaboration Award (Business and Training Provider category), Tasmanian Training Awards 

Entura and the Institute of Project Management (IPM) were an Industry Collaboration Award finalist in the Business and Training Provider category at the 2017 Tasmanian Training Awards. The annual awards recognise the achievements of industry, employers and training organisations dedicated to providing high-quality training and improving the workforce skills. Entura and IPM were finalists at the awards for their collaborative project management skill-set training, undertaken since 2013. The program’s success led to discussions on how to integrate IPM’s nationally accredited project management education into Entura’s day-to-day work activities. 

2016 Environmental Engineering Excellence Award

Entura, Tasmanian Irrigation and Water Solutions won the Environmental Engineering Excellence Award for the Meander Dam integrated water management system at the national 2016 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards. The award recognises achievement in sound environmental practice and in the sustainable use of natural resources. It also recognises the significance of the work as a benchmark of Australian environmental engineering and the extent to which the work represents best practice in environmental engineering.

2016 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards, Tasmanian Division

Entura, Tasmanian Irrigation and Water Solutions won the Australian Engineering Excellence Awards Tasmania 2016 in the category ‘Control Systems, Networks, Information Processing and Telecommunications’ for the Meander Dam integrated water management system. Designed, developed and delivered by Entura, the system allows Tasmanian Irrigation to deliver certainty of irrigation supply to water users while also optimising power production, and ensuring dam safety.

2013 Best consultant/consultancy, The Indian Council of Power Utilities

The Indian Council of Power Utilities has judged Entura India as “best consultant/consultancy” for the year 2013.  The Council is an autonomous organisation with representation from power utilities from across the industry in India. Entura India was the unanimous choice of all  jury members.

For outstanding international success in professional business services.

2011 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Award for Sustainability and Green IT

Awarded to the South Esk Hydrological Sensor Web: Next Generation Catchment Management project. The project was initiated by the CSIRO. Entura played a key role in installing telemetered hydrometric sensor sites and developing and hosting the live forecasting model for the catchment that interfaces with the CSIRO’s web applications.

2011 Work Safety Awards (Best solution to an identified workplace safety and health issue)

Awarded to the Wellington Dam alliance for the delivery of the Wellington Dam. The Wellington Dam Alliance consisted of Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Entura and Structural System Limited.

2011 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards, Tasmanian Division

Awarded to the Catagunya Dam Restoration Project. This project involved major upgrades to Catagunya Dam to make the old style post tensioned anchors in the dam redundant. The winning team included Entura, Hydro Tasmania, D A Tanner Holdings, Wildtribe, Richard Roadd & Assoc, Hawkins Engineering, Structural Systems, Sides Drilling, Cut and Core.

2011 IEA Engineering Excellence Awards (Innovation and Development category)

Awarded to the Wellington Dam alliance for the delivery of the Wellington Dam. The Wellington Dam Alliance consisted of Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Entura and Structural System Limited.

2011 Engineers Australia, Queensland Division, Engineering Excellence Award – High Commendation (Project Infrastructure over $50 million)

Awarded to the Wyaralong Dam Alliance, consisting of Queensland Water Infrastructure, Macmahon, Entura, Wagners, ASI, SMEC Australia and Rizzo, for the Wyaralong Dam Project.

2011 Alliance Contracting Excellence Awards (Category A – Major Projects Alliances)

Awarded to the Wyaralong Dam Alliance for the delivery of the Wyaralong Dam. The Wyaralong Dam Alliance consisted of Entura, Queensland Water Infrastructure, Machmahon Contractors, Wagners Quarries, ASI Constructors, Rizzo Australia and SMEC Australia.

2011 Western Australia Leighton Contractors Excellence Awards in the categories of safety and health innovation, environmental excellence and teamwork excellence

Awarded to the Wellington Dam alliance for the delivery of the Wellington Dam. The Wellington Dam Alliance consisted of Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Entura and Structural System Limited.

2009 Environmental Planning or Conservation Award for Excellence, Planning Institute of Australia Awards (Tasmanian division)

Awarded to Entura for the Clarence City Council Natural Assets Information Manual.

2009 High Commendation (Environment and Sustainability), Victorian Engineering Excellence Awards

Awarded to Melbourne Water and Hydro Tasmania Consulting for Mini Hydro Generating Plants

2008 Tasmanian CCF Earth Awards (Category 4 – project value between $20M and $75M)

Awarded to the Meander Dam Construction Project for the construction of the new Meander dam in northern Tasmania.

2008 Five-Star Green Star Rating for Office Design

Awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia to our custom built office in Cambridge, Tasmania

2006 Bentley Award (Geospatial Modelling)

Awarded for 2004 Hobart Waterfront Project

2006 Print and Design Industry Awards, Gold Award (Tasmania)

Hydro Tasmania Consulting corporate brochure was awarded “best of” in its category (brochure designed by Clemengers Tasmania)

2005 Services Award, Tasmania Export Awards

2005 Services Award Finalist, Australian Export Awards.

2005 Tasmanian Awards for Environment Excellence

Awarded for developing global environmental and social standards for wind farm development.

2005 Griffith University Award for Environmental Conflict Resolution

2004 Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence – Environmentally Responsible Business Award

Awarded for development of international sustainability guidelines for hydropower development and operation and a complementary compliance protocol.
