The Bakun HEP (hydro electric project) is located in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia on the Balui River, approximately 37 km upstream of Belaga Town. The Bakun HEP comprises a 205 m high concrete faced rockfill dam (CFRD) and a large powerhouse in which are installed eight 300MW hydro generating sets producing a total of 2400 MW.
