Utility-scale solar power is booming around the world but it comes with a range of challenges that must be overcome if a project is to be successful.

Alongside other emerging technologies such as energy storage and electric vehicles, solar power is likely to play a major role in transforming networks across the globe.

Entura has significant renewable energy development experience, from pre-feasibility right through to commissioning, optimising operations and asset management of off-grid power systems and utility-scale solar farms.

Entura has made important contributions to the solar industry in Australia through the development of innovative tools and techniques in solar resource monitoring and assessment such as urban solar resource mapping and large-scale solar atlases of Queensland and Victoria.

This contribution to the wider industry continues through capability development and training offered by the Entura clean energy and water institute.

Solar farm development (3 – 4 days)

Designed for managers and decision-makers looking to enter solar farm development or considering investments in solar farms, this course explores the solar farm development process from prospecting to operations. This course is focussed on Solar PV (photovoltaics) technologies, but also covers the key aspects of solar thermal generation.

The course aims to improve understanding of the key issues involved in solar farm development with a focus on minimising risk and increasing certainty. The duration of the course is three to four days, with a mix of classroom training, scenario assignments and site visit to an operational solar farm.
